Return Goods Policy

A Return Goods Authorization (RGA) is required to accompany all product returned to Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. (Siemens). This ensures proper handling of your return.

Four product return types exist to allow flexibility in handling varied return reasons:

Customers agree not to deduct anticipated credits for returns as a condition of return approval. In all cases except when alleged personal injury/product liability is involved or when the return is a Non-Conforming Return, your account will be credited and a credit memo will be issued within 15 working days from receipt of material. After inspection of the returned product, your account will be credited for the full invoice value of the merchandise, less applicable deductions and charges. When an original invoice amount is not known or cannot be determined, Siemens will determine the value of the product(s). Siemens will refuse shipments returned without referencing a RGA number. Siemens reserves the right to deny credit issuance for returned items not in compliance with this policy. Examples include but are not limited to damaged product, expired warranty, and items returned as Non-Conforming that pass evaluative testing.

All claims for loss, damage or delays in transit are to be transacted by the consignee directly with the carrier. The issuance of this RGA shall not be construed as an acceptance of any responsibility or liability on the part of Siemens or as a waiver of any right to make a determination as to Siemens’ responsibility.
Products should be packaged in a manner consistent with standard carrier and parcel shipping requirements to minimize damage or loss. Siemens reserves the right to refuse credit for returned product damaged as a result of improper customer packaging.

Return Goods Authorization expires 60 days after the date of issuance.

Items returned to a Siemens location other than the site specified on the RGA paperwork will be assessed a $50 re-routing fee.

Standard Return
Standard Returns provide Siemens customers the opportunity to return product designated as “Returnable” by Product Management. Products must be of current design and revision level, unopened, unused, undamaged, in the original "as-shipped" package. Software may only be returned when the seal has not been broken.

Standard Returns shall be assessed a 20% or $50 handling charge (whichever is greater) that will be deducted from the credit issued.

The customer will be responsible for all freight charges.

Non-Standard Return
Non-Standard Returns provide Siemens customers the opportunity to request consideration for the return of items not designated as “Returnable” by Product Management. If the request is approved, the appropriate approval authority will determine the handling charge.

Software may only be returned when the seal has not been broken.

The customer will be responsible for all freight charges.

Siemens Error Return
Siemens Error Returns provide customers the opportunity to return material within 60 days of shipment in the event of a Siemens order or shipment error. Original purchase order, invoice number and date must be referenced. Products must be unopened, unused, undamaged, in the original "as-shipped" package. Software may only be returned when seal has not been broken.

Product should be returned collect via the designated
Siemens Approved carrier provided on the approval documentation or freight charges will be assessed.

Non-Conforming Return
Non-Conforming Returns enable Siemens customers to return product to the factory if found to be non-conforming in accordance with the conditions of Siemens’ warranty. It is Siemens’ discretion whether to replace, repair or issue a credit for non-conforming products. Warranty verification will be determined by a technical validation of the product once the non-conforming item is received in our repair department or authorized service center.

For approved product categories, if you have an emergency ( e.g. your equipment is down) and the warranty can be validated commercially, advanced replacement may be available. If this option is utilized and the non-conforming item is not returned within 10 business days, the customer will be invoiced for the replacement part.

The customer will be responsible for all freight charges.
