Surge Protection Devices @ Siemens

Siemens TPS3 Surge Protection

Siemens TPS3 the next generation of UL 1449 3rd Edition hard-wired Surge Protective Devices

In today's electronic world, electrical systems for the home or business just aren’t complete unless they incorporate surge protection. This is best accomplished by Stopping Surges Before They Get In through the application of hard-wired surge protective devices (SPDs) installed at key electrical system surge entry points.

Developed over 15 years ago, our Transient Protection System (TPS) family of surge protective devices incorporated a number of industry firsts including patented Ceramgard and TranSafeTM circuitry, coordinated fusing and thermal cutouts, dielectric isolation, mechanical re-enforcing taping all of which combined to ensure the highest possible electrical system safety, protection, and reliability.

Our next generation UL 1449 3rd Edition TPS3 SPDs continues this same legacy by maintaining the highest degree of safety while delivering some of the industry’s best performance ratings.

Electrical disturbances will always occur. But, they don’t have to cause surge protectors to fail in an unsafe manner making electrical systems unreliable and unprotected. On the following internet pages you will find detailed information on how we have developed the safest, highest performing, most reliable hard-wired surge protective devices available.

Next Generation Surge Protection UL 1449 3rd Edition

TVSS

Since 1998, UL 1449 has been revised 4 times with the latest being UL 1449 3rd Edition, effective September 29, 2009. Throughout this span, one thing has been consistent: Siemens TPS commitment to safety and reliability. When other manufacturers had to improve their internal SPD safety controls with every new UL 1449 revision, Siemens TPS remained the same. Siemens original design, which incorporated fully coordinated safety controls safety controls, met the requirements of each new UL 1449 revision without modification. Those using Siemens TPS relied upon our safety first design to ensure system surge protection and reliability.

Our latest technical white paper explains, "why UL 1449 3rd edition incorporates additional safety regulation?, new terminology and performance parameters for TVSS and surge arrestors, which are now called Surge Protective Devices (SPDs)?" For those looking for a quick summary, we’ve developed a condensed white paper summarizing all the pertinent revisions found in UL 1449 3rd Edition.
