Siemens and Cargill recently completed a very successful food/cash drive from August 24-August 27, 2009 in Minneapolis, MN. The co-sponsored event collected money and food donations for the Second Harvest Heartland which provides for local food shelves, soup kitchens and shelters that serve families, children and seniors in need.
The initiative encompassed three Siemens facilities in the surrounding area of Minnetonka, MN. Cargill also had various business units, involved from five facilities. Everyone was eager to commit to the worthwhile project and determined to work together to meet the goals that were set for food and monetary donations.
The event boosted employee morale, fostered teamwork and creativity not only in the Siemens and Cargill relationship, but also between Siemens, Cargill and the community. In addition this event benefited a humanitarian cause, Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank.
Cargill not only realizes the Siemens commitment to customers, but helping the community as well. This is a significant accomplishment for Siemens and has become a best practice example of Siemens working with a premier account customer.
Cargill is the second largest privately owned global business and has been selected as one of the three Siemens Premier Accounts.
There were a total of eight Siemens and Cargill locations set-up for food and cash donations. The goal was 2,000 pounds of food and $2,000.00 cash donations. Both goals were exceeded and provided Second Harvest Heartland with a total of 3,205 pounds of food and $3,590 in cash donations.
"My congratulations to the Siemens and Cargill team for planning a joint Caring Hands event with a premier account - and for exceeding all the project goals," said Tom Kopanski, Head of Industry Sales. "This kind of outreach allows us to really get to know the customer and helps us establish a partnership that goes well beyond just selling products. I consider this a best practice and encourage all our sales teams to consider similar opportunities."
A special thank you to the following companies for their generous support of this event: Second Harvest Heartland, Superior Ford, TwinWest Chamber of Commerce, Mohawk Moving & Storage Inc., Cub Foods & Famous Dave’s.
