Conveyors

Based on operational experience and new technical capabilities, a new conveying line and bunker complex were to be designed featuring state-of-the-art handling technology and equipment.
In view of the cost situation and the existing plant and equipment, the design concept incorporated a sensible combination of the existing technical basis and promising innovation technology.
The belt conveyors were taken from existing stock at Nochten mine. The stacker-reclaimer (KSS 10000) required and the train loading facility were relocated from the neighboring Reichwalde open-cast mine. Just two belt distributors had to be built from new in the storage area in order to avoid disruptions in winter. This decision allowed the investment funds made available to the company to be concentrated on technical innovation with great rationalization potential.
A short payback period was to be achieved through through the following effects:
Energy savings
Rational deployment of operator's personnel
Reduction of maintenance costs by economical plant and equipment operation
Wear-oriented maintenance on the basis of guaranteed diagnostic values
In order to obtain planning permission for the facility, a "target modification procedure" for the Lignite Plan for Nochten had to be initiated. Particularly stringent requirements were laid down with regard to emission control. The following solutions were proposed, accepted, and eventually put into effect:
Relocation of the facility near the power station and removal of bunkers in the power station
Particulate matter protection by means of extensive cleaning installations
Noise protection by enclosure of drive equipment, noise-reduced rollers, reduced belt speed, erection of a building around the loading facility, and creation of noise-protection embankment.
