Siemens Introduces New Thickness Gauge To Improve Measurement Accuracy
ATLANTA – Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. today announced the release of the new SITRANS F US stand-alone thickness gauge. This new gauge measures the wall thickness of any metallic or non-metallic pipe, which is crucial for clamp-on flow measurement.
After the SITRANS F US stand-alone thickness gauge has measured the wall thickness of a pipe on which a clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter has been installed, the value is entered into the flow computer and used to calculate the flow. It is a vital factor in the flow computation model whose accuracy is a prerequisite for precise clamp-on ultrasonic flow measurement.
The thickness gauge can also be used as a stand-alone tool to measure the wall thickness of any metallic or non-metallic material such as steel, aluminum, titanium, plastics and ceramics.
The thickness gauge is easily carried from measurement point to measurement point due to its low weight of only 5.3 oz. Additionally, it operates for approximately 250 hours by means of two 1.5 volt AAA batteries. The gauge’s accuracy is enabled by the wide sound velocity range from 3,280 to 32,805 square feet and a probe frequency of 5 MHz. The pipe thickness can easily be read on the 128 x 32 LCD display.
