TPS Surge Protective Devices Stop Surges Before They Get In

In today's electronic world, electrical systems just aren’t complete unless they incorporate surge protection. The most effective way to accomplish this is to hardwire suppressor’s right at the incoming service. Connecting and protecting hardwired surge protective devices to electrical distribution systems is not a simple task.

Developed over 14 years ago, Siemens Transient Protection Systems (TPS) surge protectors include a host of safety controls that work together to help prevent unacceptable end of life operations. Patented safety controls Ceramgard and TranSafe, coordinated fusing and thermal cutouts, dielectric isolation, integrity taping….. combine to keep your system safe and protected. Our customers have come to rely and trust on our proven track record of safety, support, and integrity.

Unfortunately, electrical disturbances beyond surges will probably always occur. But they don’t have to cause surge protectors to fail in an unsafe manner. Here you will find detailed information on how we developed some of the safest, best performing, most reliable hard wired surge protective devices available.

Integral Surge Protection

Preventing surges before they enter your facility is easiest when integrated with the electrical distribution. In addition, protection is optimized by lowering the overall installation impedance providing the industry's best “installed” suppressed voltage performance.

Surge protective devices can be configured for surge current redundancy from 80kA to 800kA.

Integral surge protection is available for the following: Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards, MCCs, Busway and more...

External or Wall Mounted Surge Protection

Stopping surges before they get into your existing facility begins with Siemens TPS wall mounted Surge Protective Devices (SPDs).

Just like our integral line, our external or wall mounted line delivers some of the industries best suppressed voltage ratings with one of widest range surge current redundancy capabilities in the industry, 80kA to 800kA.  More...

Residential Surge Protection

TPS Whole House Surge Protection consists of separate surge protective devices designed to stop surges before they enter your home’s power, coax, and telephone lines.

Backed by the industries best secondary home white appliance warrantys with coverage up to $20,000, our TPS family of whole house surge protectors utilizes the same industrial strength technology used within our commercial line of protectors. This means years of protected service when compared to less robust devices.  More

UL 1449 2nd Edition, February 9, 2007 Revisions – Eliminating Fault Current Protection Blind Spots

Since 1998, UL 1449 has been revised 3 times, and in 2009, it will be revised a fourth. Throughout this span, one thing has stayed the same, Siemens TPS. UL’s latest iteration of 1449 fills in the fault current testing gap by requiring TVSSs/SPDs to pass intermediate fault current testing.

Safety is a big deal! Surge suppressors protect sensitive loads by temporally shorting out the distribution system. If they fail in an unsafe manner, surge protectors in some documented cases have taken down whole facilities.

Siemens TPS has never had this problem. It provides the industries best clamp voltage protection while maintaining the best safety record in the industry. This fact is summarized in our latest technical white paper. Please familiarize yourself with the ramifications of this standard, and download a copy of the latest specification to ensure your projects will include safe operational protection.
