PCS 7 Takes You Beyond the Limits of...
Scalability
One System Which Scales Smoothly Up or Down Without Compromise
Applications for process automation come in all shapes and sizes. More and more manufacturers are looking for a single system that can be used everywhere in their company - from laboratory to pilot plant to production. PCS 7 is unique in its ability to provide a platform that can be scaled smoothly and easily from small (system size 100 I/O points) up to extremely large (system size 100,000 I/O) and everywhere in between. Benefits from PCS 7’s scalability such as common hardware and software, no re-engineering, and smooth technology transfer, result in significant cost savings throughout the lifecycle of a plant.
Benefits of Scalability
The ability to use a common platform for all your process applications can provide significant benefits.
Common hardware (I/O, Controllers, Power Supplies, PCs): means you keep less spares on the shelf
Common Software (Engineering tools, Operator interface): means plant personnel can move easily from one area of the plant to another without retraining
Modular Software Licensing: means it is cost-effective and easy to expand your system
No re-engineering: means standards developed for one application can be reused throughout the company irrespective of system size
Simple Software Licensing Means No Penalties for Expansion
In the process industries, change is a constant. Whether it is the manufacture of new products or expansion of production capacity, your process automation system must be able to change right along with you in an easy and cost effective way. Beyond the benefits of common hardware and software, PCS 7 also provides a simple, modular software licensing scheme that doesn’t penalize you for change. Licenses for our engineering system come in four sizes, all of which are independent of I/O mixture, ensuring that you pay for only what you need.
250 Process Objects (PO)*
1000 Process Objects (PO)*
2000 Process Objects (PO)*
Unlimited
Powerpacks are available to upgrade from one license level to the next. We don’t penalize you for change – your total investment is the same whether you buy a 2000 PO license outright or start with a 1000 PO license and then upgrade to 2000 PO.
* Process Object: A process object is a device such as a motor, block valve, PID controller, etc, each of which may contain one or more I/O points
