PCS 7 Takes You Beyond the Limits of...
Standards-based Design
The Use of Open Standards Minimizes TCO and “Future-Proofs” Your System
 |
The adoption of international standards such as S88 for Batch have proven to deliver significant benefits to users and suppliers alike. PCS 7 has been designed from the ground-up to maximize the usage of international standards. This enables benefits such as bridging the “islands of automation” that typically exist in a plant and allows users to choose “best in class” technology. For example, leveraging PROFIBUS for communication to controllers enables the direct integration of motors, drives, and Smart MCCs directly into the DCS instead of requiring the use of a PLC gateway. PCS 7 incorporates S88 and IEC 6131-compatible configuration software in a package that can be seamlessly integrated with SIMATIC IT (Siemens MES offering), which conforms to the S95 standard. The international standard PROFIBUS is used as the communication backbone between control, I/O and smart field devices, while Industrial Ethernet is used for communication at the HMI layer. Defacto standards such as OPC, HART and MSSQL are also leveraged within the system.
